Crescent Loom is a very fun game that lets you play around with the building blocks of life and see how they interact. The name of the game is creation! You start with the bones, attach muscle and organs, and then stitch together different neurons to see how it all behaves together. The true star of this game is the brain, where you can alter different neural parameters in real-time to see how they affect your little creatures. As a structural biologist, it was fun to see the addition of the ion channels, as they're very critical to cell function. The explanations of the different parameters are short and sweet, and the set creature patterns are easy to follow, with a scaling difficulty that lets you explore the different builds at your own pace. Not all the controls are immediately obvious but by creating the pre-set patterns, you quickly understand the way the creatures are meant to be constructed. The open-world is fun to interact with, though having set objectives or unlockable achievements might make the experience more exciting! A player handbook that gives brief descriptions of each neural parameter might be a fun addition in the future, to allow more curious minds the opportunity to learn more. All in all, a very fun game that you can spend quite a bit of time in without getting bored. Very excited to see where it goes as the developers keep working on it!
